The Jayasundara laboratory seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researchers on projects related to the toxicological effects of environmental contaminants and heat exposure. The Jayasundara laboratory studies effects of environmental exposures on kidney health based on population health analyses and molecular and cellular assays. Depending on the training background and interest of the candidate, the candidate will be expected to develop an independent research project within the scope of the funding. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to contribute to participate in mentoring of junior laboratory members, laboratory meetings including journal clubs, and routine laboratory maintenance jobs. The successful applicant will join a thriving community of environmental health researchers at the Nicholas School of the Environment, the department of Biology, the Global Health Institute, the Duke Medical Center, and Civil and Environmental Engineering , who work together via interdisciplinary research and training programs such as the Integrated Toxicology and Environmental Health Program, the Superfund Research Center, and the Center for the Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology. TERM: 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should hold a PhD in Environmental Toxicology or a related field. We seek applicants with a strong interest in environmental toxicology and health, either with a background in population health analyses or laboratory research experience in molecular toxicology assays based on the zebrafish model. PROJECTED START DATE: The position is available immediately. Start date is flexible for doctoral candidates completing degrees in summer of 2025. WORK LOCATION: Work takes place in Durham, NC Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
