This position is a renewable, fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment will be from three to five years. While some teaching may be in online courses, presence on campus is required.
This position is being created as part of Lehigh’s strategic investment in innovative, student-centered and evidence-based approaches to teaching across disciplines. Lehigh is a highly ranked (Wall Street Journal #15 overall and USNWR #46 in national universities) research university that strongly values excellence in teaching. Lehigh has prioritized becoming a national leader in student outcomes through the development and implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches, course and curricular design and adoption of learning technologies that ensure our educational practices continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of learners. Faculty-led research on topics like teaching effectiveness and assessment techniques are also part of our strategic initiative on educational innovation. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or field-equivalent terminal degree and a demonstrated record of success in creating and implementing innovative approaches to teaching, developing innovative educational programs and/or novel approaches to assessing student performance by the date of hire. Candidates must have five or more years of experience in teaching at the university level.
The individual hired will be required to have a teaching track faculty appointment in one or more of Lehigh’s academic departments. They will be expected to teach a number of courses commensurate with the typical teaching assignment for senior teaching faculty in their college/department and will be expected to play a role in undergraduate teaching, and may also teach at the graduate level. The person hired into this position will be expected to work with the Provost’s Office and the Office of Educational Innovation and Assessment on projects related to faculty professional development and educational innovation.

Other materials (not to exceed 5 double-spaced pages of text with links to internet resources where appropriate) demonstrating innovative teaching and learning approaches including novel learning activities and materials, syllabi, curricular and instructional websites, software for learning, videos showing teaching and learning approaches or student testimonials may be provided in addition to a statement of educational teaching and learning philosophy. This material should be described and contextualized in the cover letter. Applicants should carefully consider which and how much other material to provide to emphasize quality and innovation rather than quantity of material.
