Position Description

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is the leading science and engineering school in Asia and a member of the ATLAS Collaboration through the Hong Kong ATLAS Cluster (HKUST, HKU and CUHK). The HKUST activities in ATLAS includes, but is not limited to the Higgs and BSM physics, ITk construction, upgrade of the ATLAS muon system and contributions to the reconstruction software.
The ATLAS group is now looking an outstanding candidate to nominate for the HKUST Research Assistant Professors (RAP) Scheme 2025. This position is initially for 2 years with a possible 1-year extension, subject to successful RGC research grant application in Hong Kong. The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the research activities in the research group of Prof. Kirill Prokofiev of the Department of Physics, HKUST ATLAS group and the Hong Kong ATLAS Cluster, to deliver a limited amount of the University-level teaching as assigned by the Department of Physics, to supervise Research Postgraduate Students and to apply for RGC research funding at HKUST. Extended periods of stay at CERN can be considered, subject to mutual agreement.
