Position Description

The Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics at the University of Bern has several PhD positions available in the following research areas:

A.) Strong interaction at low energy, dark matter, mu --> e conversion, parity violation (research group of Martin Hoferichter)

B.) Hadronic contributions to muon g-2 from lattice Quantum Chromodynamics and algorithmic developments for multi-level and RG-improved simulations (research group of Urs Wenger)

C.) Study of multi-hadron systems, with a focus on three-hadron spectroscopy and exotic hadrons, from Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (research group of Fernando Romero-López)

Starting Date will be in fall 2025.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in theoretical physics (completed at least 1 month prior to the starting date) and strong motivation to pursue an academic career in theoretical physics.

Applicants must also indicate for which of the projects listed above they are applying (it is possible to indicate more than one project). This is a required question, and if it is not answered, the application will be considered incomplete.

Priority will be given to applications submitted before May 7th 2025.
