Overview 

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University is seeking a full-time Instructional Staff to oversee the administration of our PSY 101 course and Costanzo Teaching Fellowship Program. The role will involve administrating and co-teaching PSY 101 and a Psychology teaching seminar, as well as advising psychology majors and supporting department assessment efforts, further integrating this position into our academic community. 

Work Performed 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Collaborating on the curriculum for, overseeing higher-level administration of, and co-teaching the Introductory Psychology Course (PSY 101) for both fall and spring semesters. 
• Helping oversee the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing mentorship of the undergraduate Teaching Fellows, who lead discussion sections for PSY 101. This includes co-teaching the fall teaching seminar that the fellows enroll in as part of their training. 
• Collaborating on classroom pedagogical research tied to the PSY 101 course, including research design, data collection and analysis, grant preparations, IRB submissions, and dissemination at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. 
• Advising psychology majors. 
• Supporting department curriculum assessment efforts. 

Other responsibilities include mutually agreed-upon duties that will benefit your professional development, potentially including, but not limited to, mentoring undergraduate research, assisting with the Psychology One Conference held at Duke each summer, and offering workshops on teaching for faculty and graduate students. 

Preferred qualifications: 

• Requires a master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent experience in the appropriate field of interest. 
• A commitment to the success of students and programs at the University. 
• Demonstrated experience in educational leadership. 
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills. 

This is a full-time position eligible for all Duke benefits (https://hr.duke.edu/benefits). The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal, depending on funding and performance. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.
