Position Description

What We Want 

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for experimental research in quantum optics.  The candidate should have a working knowledge of nonlinear optics, plasma physics, and ultrafast lasers.  These skills will be used to study excimer lasers for laser inertial fusion energy.

OR

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for theoretical research in quantum optics.  The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Boltzmann and quantum Boltzmann equation as well as stimulated Brillouin and Raman scattering.  These skills will be used to study excimer lasers for laser inertial fusion energy.


What You Need to Know 

Salary Range: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.
 
Required Education and Experience: PhD in Physics

Preferred Education and Experience:
Experimental: Expertise with nonlinear optics, plasma physics, and ultrafast lasers.
Theory: Working knowledge of the Boltzmann and quantum Boltzmann equation as well as stimulated Brillouin and Raman scattering.
General: Knowledge of scientific programming language(s) and computer simulation
Responsibilities:
Research:

Conferences, Publications, etc.: Write scientific papers, participate in conferences, prepare PowerPoint presentations/slides, make calculations, and related analysis as instructed.
Assist Visitors: Assists in hosting Institute visitors, assist in making IQSE sponsored activities successful, and performs other duties as assigned.

Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
