Description
Severo Ochoa PhD fellowships at IFIC. IFIC (Instituto de Física Corpuscular, http://webific.ific.uv.es/web/en) is the largest particle physics research center in Spain and has been recently recognized by the Program "Severo Ochoa Centers of Excellence". The IFIC research institute (Valencia, Spain) offers 4-year Ph.D. fellowships to work in its lines devoted to: 1. L3- PhD: Flavour and Quark Matter (theory and experiment). The group offers PhD projects in various areas. The existence of a threefold repetition of quark and lepton particles, that are only distinguished by their interactions with the Higgs boson (their masses), is one of the major open problems in particle physics. Another area of very active research is the interpretation of the newly discovered exotic resonances as tetra or penta quark states, and the search of exotic long-lived particles. IFIC is heavily involved in these research lines with world-leading experts in both theory and experiment (LHCb and Belle II)" The successful candidate is expected to join IFIC by the Fall 2025 and should have finished his/her master studies before that time. For additional information, please contact jmnieves@ific.uv.es 2. L4- PhD: Astroparticles, Dark Matter and Cosmology. The topic for this position should be aligned with the research lines of the groups working at IFIC on cosmic messengers (in particular, cosmic neutrinos), dark matter searches or cosmology. IFIC participates in various international collaborations, such as KM3NeT, ATLAS, LHCb, MAPP-MoEDAL, NA64, RAD.ES, babyIAXO and CADEx. It is also involved in the future project MATHUSLA and has an active theory group. The successful candidate is expected to join IFIC by the Fall 2025 and should have finished his/her master studies before that time. Excellent academic record, high motivation and good computing skills are required. For more information on the research work and instructions about the procedure, please contact: zornoza@ific.uv.es 3. L6- PhD: The synthesis of nuclei The groups belonging to the “synthesis of nuclei” research line are seeking candidates to do a PhD work in nuclear physics. IFIC is a Spanish leading institution in nuclear physics, with a broad research program in experimental nuclear physics and theory. The experimental activity is done at world-class facilities like GSI/FAIR, LNL Legnaro, ISOLDE (CERN), RIKEN, GANIL, Univ. of Jyväskylä, etc. with focus on nuclear structure, nuclear reactions and astrophysics. For more information on the research work and instructions about the procedure, please contact: Alejandro Algora (Alejandro.Algora@ific.uv.es) and Andres Gadea (Andres.Gadea@ific.uv.es) A detailed description of the available topics can be found in the link: https://ibox.ific.uv.es/nextcloud/index.php/s/x5XTBHJdmK4kedg Candidates are asked to send their application materials (CV, a cover letter with a motivation statement for the topic(s), copies of university degrees and grades, and also copy of the Bachelor and Master academic records) to the AJO web BY JULY 7th. In your application, please indicate for which line are you interested in: “L3-PhD: Flavour and Quark Matter”, “L4- PhD: Astroparticles, Dark Matter and Cosmology” or “L6-PhD: The synthesis of nuclei”Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
- Cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae
- Research statement
- University degrees and grades
- copy of the Bachelor and Master academic record
- Two reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers on this site
)
And anything else requested in the description.
