A 1 year postdoctoral position is available to work on computational models of artificial evolution for aptamer design, expected to start between November 2025 and February 2026. Aptamers are often obtained through rounds of in vitro competitive selection (SELEX), starting from artificial libraries of ~10^15 distinct sequences. But engineered libraries cannot fully explore sequence space diversity. The goal of the project is to develop machine learning approaches to infer fitness landscapes from large sequencing datasets obtained in such experiments. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in machine learning and statistical physics, with a real interest for interdisciplinary research and computational biology in particular. The fellow will join my team at IPhT, in Paris-Saclay. The IPhT is located just outside of Paris in picturesque Gif-sur-Yvette at the French CEA and Université Paris-Saclay. Free shuttle buses and transit-pass discounts are provided for researchers who wish to live in downtown Paris. Hybrid work options (partially remote) are possible. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with the experimental team of Frédéric Ducongé, MIRCen, at the Institut de Biologie François Jacob of CEA.
