The Department of Physics of Harvey Mudd College, one of the Claremont Colleges, is seeking a visiting assistant professor of physics, for the fall 2025 and/or spring 2026 semesters. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment with a possibility of renewal. The department (https://physics.hmc.edu/) has thirteen full-time members; we graduate about 20 physics majors each year, the majority of whom go on to Ph.D. programs in physics and related fields. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, and will have a primary responsibility of teaching. Teaching assignments are exclusively at the undergraduate level and will include introductory physics in small classroom and laboratory settings. Advanced undergraduate courses may be included in the visitor’s schedule subject to interest on the part of the visitor and need in the department. Though research activities will not be within the scope of required responsibilities, candidates who would like to conduct research through collaborations and/or work with students are encouraged to mention those plans when applying and discuss them with the department chair. The salary is $85,000 for two semesters of teaching responsibilities, or $42,500 for a single semester. Questions about the position should be directed to Professor Theresa W.
