Position Description

The Quantum Nanophotonic Laboratory at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the development of a novel telecom-wavelength quantum dot platform. This position is part of a broader research initiative encompassing fundamental studies of nonlinear quantum light–matter interactions leading to the realization of quantum photonic neural networks.

The successful candidate will play a key role in platform development, including photonic design and engineering, nanofabrication, and cryogenic quantum optical measurements. They will also supervise graduate students and collaborate closely with leading research groups such as the National Research Council of Canada, the Midolo Group at the Niels Bohr Institute, and industry partners including Quantum Bridge.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Demonstrated expertise in photonics and nanofabrication techniques, including electron-beam lithography and both wet and dry etching processes. - Familiarity with optical microscopy is desirable. - A strong research curiosity and the ability to rapidly acquire new technical skills. - Interest in mentoring and team leadership, with opportunities to develop both technical and management capabilities.

This position offers a dynamic and collaborative research environment, with access to cutting-edge facilities and interdisciplinary partnerships. Applications will be reviewed as received, and continuing until a suitable applicant is identified.
