The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in observational extragalactic astrophysics. The successful candidate will join the research group of Professor Anna-Christina Eilers (http://www.mit.edu/~eilers/), which investigates the evolution of galaxies, quasars, and supermassive black holes through a combination of observational data, machine learning techniques, and cosmological simulations. The group is actively involved in multiple JWST Guaranteed Time Observation (GTO) and General Observer (GO) programs, an upcoming Large Program on the Chandra Observatory, as well as other programs from both ground- and space-based observatories. MIT has institutional access to the 6.5-meter Magellan Telescopes, LIGO, TESS and the new infrared time-domain telescope WINTER. Candidates with expertise in all areas of extragalactic astronomy are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field at the time of appointment. The position is for a two-year initial term with extension for a third-year contingent upon performance. The start date is flexible within the summer to fall of 2026.
