Position Description
The cosmology group in the Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics (LITP) at the University of Michigan’s Physics Department welcomes applications for a LITP Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position starting in the Fall of 2026. We are looking for a cosmologist working at the interface of theory and data.
Preference will be given to candidates or are, or are willing to be, contributing to Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey in which the University of Michigan is an institutional member. The candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate with students, postdocs, and faculty working on a range of topics including theoretical and computational cosmology. The department aims to provide an inclusive environment with faculty mentorship and activities that nurture scientific and professional growth. This position requires a PhD in Physics or Astronomy.
The position is initially for one year at a time, renewable for up to three years total, contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. The deadline is January 15, 2026, but applications will be considered until the position is filled.
