Postdoctoral Associate – Skeletal Muscle Physiology Laboratory
The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Associate to support the Skeletal Muscle Physiology Laboratory research lab lead by Principal Investigator & Professor LaDora Thompson The Postdoctoral Associate will support a portfolio of NIH funded studies, data collection and management, data analysis and manuscript preparation as well as laboratory safety. They serve as primary point person to facilitate communications among the research teams and with central administration to develop and adhere to project milestones for research projects. Candidates should demonstrate a strong research background.

The Postdoctoral Associate will sustain and support a culture that celebrates

Responsibilities:
- Engage with collaborators, coordinate with team members, and mentor trainees.
- Contribute to ongoing projects, including animal performance testing and cellular/molecular analyses.
- Independently design, perform, and analyze experiments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.
- Present findings at lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and reports.
- Perform study analysis, author reports and products, and collaborate with additional study sites.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, physiology, or related field
- Significant expertise in conducting independent and collaborative basic bench research
- Rodent handling, husbandry, and dissection
- Demonstrated record of productivity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of muscle physiology and metabolism, experience with ex vivo contractility experiments are a plus
- Cell culture
- Experience conducting nutritional therapeutics research and rodent exercise testing
