Purdue University, Department of Physics & Astronomy

Position Description
The Quantum Science Theory (QST) group at Purdue University invites applications for two Postdoctoral Researcher positions to begin in Fall 2026. Candidates whose research interests align with one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: quantum computation, quantum matter, quantum simulation, quantum error correction, generalized symmetries and topological phases of matter, and physical realizations of topological states on superconducting networks.
Appointment Details
The successful candidates will initially be part of Professor Claudio Chamon’s or Professor Tyler Ellison’s research group for two years (renewed annually). During their third year, they will serve as QST Postdoctoral Fellows, fostering collaborations across the broader QST community. Throughout their term, they will be provided with an annual research fund, to support travel, hosting visitors, and other discretionary research expenses.
About the QST Group
The QST group is part of a broad initiative by the College of Science at Purdue University to connect the Departments of Physics and Astronomy, Computer Science, and Mathematics. This initiative includes a dedicated interdisciplinary space for future faculty, postdocs, and students, as well as support for a vibrant visitors program. Postdoctoral Researchers will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across these departments, including the future QST hires. In particular, there is a strong overlap in the fields of topological quantum field theory, quantum condensed matter theory, and quantum computing and algorithms.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in physics or a related field by the time of appointment.
Application Instructions
To apply, please complete the application form on AcademicJobsOnline and submit the following materials:
