Position Description
The Enrico Fermi, Robert R. McCormick, and Mafalda & Reinhard Oehme Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are competitive prize postdoctoral research fellowships intended to attract outstanding early-career scientists to the Enrico Fermi Institute of the University of Chicago.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable annually for up to three years. The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 and has an additional allocation for independent research support. The appointment is benefits eligible and may be eligible for a taxable moving allowance. For information on benefits, please consult https://clients.garnett-powers.com/pd/uchicago. Appointees are given the freedom to work independently or in association with Enrico Fermi Institute faculty in a research area of common interest. The appointment would be at the internal University rank of Postdoctoral Scholar, which is open only to those individuals who are less than seven years beyond attainment of the Ph.D. degree. Priority will be given to those candidates who received their Ph.D. in 2022 or later. There are no teaching responsibilities associated with this position.
The Enrico Fermi Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit within the Division of Physical Sciences of the University of Chicago. The Institute's activities include the following: string theory and theoretical high-energy physics, experimental high-energy physics, theoretical astrophysics and cosmology, experimental particle astrophysics, infrared and optical astronomy, cosmic microwave background observations, general relativity and gravitational waves, and planetary science.
