Description
We invite applications for an endowed tenure-track faculty position in Physical and Quantitative Biology at the Laufer Center at Stony Brook University. We seek candidates at the assistant or associate professor level, but we'll also consider senior candidates. We're open to all areas of physical and quantitative biology, theory/computations and/or experiments (see our webpage Research Overview - The Laufer Center) but are particularly interested in how cell behaviors, decision-making, evolution and adaptation are encoded in biomolecular networks, and might be controlled or designed.

The position focuses on research, with limited teaching, and is supported by a Laufer Endowed Professorship, which provides annual research support. The successful candidate will have considerable freedom to choose the departmental affiliation that best fits their research areas. The successful candidate will have a PhD in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics; a strong record of research productivity; and the potential for collaboration and leadership in a research setting.

The Louis and Beatrice Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology at Stony Brook University is a multidisciplinary hub for research and graduate training that brings together experts in physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and biology for discovery in biomolecules and cells and to advance drug discovery.

Qualifications
Required qualifications:
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics. Strong record of research productivity; and potential for collaboration and leadership in a research setting.

Preferred qualifications:
Quality of past and current research. Demonstrated leadership. Quality of future proposed research. Fundability of proposed research. Complementarity of research with Laufer Center interests and potential for collaborations. Promise of scientific research and the degree to which it aligns with the Center's research vision. Strong letters of recommendation.
