Education Program Senior Specialist The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio Department: Arts and Sciences | Art-Interim The Ohio State University Physics Department invites applications for a coordinator of introductory physics courses. The department seeks applicants interested in supporting its mission to achieve high levels of learning and positive experience for all students through continued and substantial evidence-based improvements to the lecture, recitation, and lab portions of these courses. The position is full-time, and the salary range is $51,500-$67,250, depending on qualifications and departmental resources. Responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating the administration of large enrollment, multi-section undergraduate physics courses. The coordinator will participate in course development activities, including evidence-based curriculum improvement and the identification and adaptation of instructional resources, such as online learning and assessment applications and AI resources. The department has a well-regarded Physics Education Research group that is actively engaged in this effort. The coordinator will engage with instructional faculty to enable effective instruction and assessment, and the coordinator will play a key role in training graduate teaching assistants. The coordinator will also support enrolled students with course-related issues and transfer credit requests. A relatively minor part of this position will include teaching of physics courses relevant to this position. Requirements for this position: Masters degree in Physics or closely related field (PhD in Physics preferred). Two years of relevant experience required, including teaching experience; supervisory and evidence-based teaching and educational materials development experience desired. Demonstrated experience working in with instructional teams which include faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and staff developing and implementing evidence-based instructional materials and methods desired. Demonstrated experience with and commitment to the success of all students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and goals desired. Experience or expertise in Physics Education Research is preferred.
