Description
Queen’s University and the Arthur B McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute (McDonald Institute) are accepting applications for a McDonald Institute-CITA Theory Fellowship at Queen's University in astroparticle theory, particle phenomenology, cosmology, the astrophysics of dark matter and high energy theory beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. Applicants will be selected based on their ability to conduct independent theory research and their potential to collaborate with astroparticle experimentalists and astrophysicists at Queen’s University. Postdoctoral fellows will join the High Energy and Astroparticle Theory group at Queen’s University, with faculty Joseph Bramante, Aaron Vincent, Larry Widrow, Kristine Spekkens, and other postdoctoral fellows. Three year appointments are available, with renewal after the second year. Salary will be competitive with postdoctoral positions in North America and commensurate with experience. Applicants are required to have a PhD in physics or astronomy prior to starting the postdoctoral fellowship. Employment Equity: Queen’s University invites applications from all qualified candidates. Queen's is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and welcomes applications from women, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The University will provide support in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, including accommodation that takes into account an applicant's accessibility needs. We also encourage Canadian applicants to apply for NSERC Postdoctoral fellowships. The funding of successful NSERC applicants will be supplemented by McDonald Institute. As part of the application process, we expect applicants to complete a short, voluntary demographic survey to support the McDonald Institute's Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) efforts. Information collected will support future efforts to promote our opportunities to diverse communities. Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will have no impact on your candidacy: https://queensu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6FPUBsNJGXrnyPc For questions regarding postdoctoral positions, please contact Joseph Bramante (joseph.bramante@queensu.ca), Aaron Vincent (aaron.vincent@queensu.ca), Kristine Spekkens (kristine.spekkens@queensu.ca) or Larry Widrow (widrow@queensu.ca)Application Materials Required:
