The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is inviting applications for the position of a

W2-Professorship for Experimental Medical Physics

as of immediately.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in experimental medical physics or biophysics with relevance to medicine, who has an internationally recognized track record in the investigation of biological matter, particularly its interaction with electromagnetic radiation or the development and application of novel radiation sources based on laser-plasma technology for medical physics.

The focus should be on fundamental research, and a willingness to collaborate with research groups from both the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine is expected.

Outstanding publications in internationally recognized scientific journals, as well as a proven track record in securing competitive third-party funding, are required. Participation in teaching within the Medical Physics degree program is expected.

Relevant teaching experience in experimental physics is desirable.

Active participation in at least one of the planned coordinated programs is expected. Through research in the following areas, the applicant would strengthen the planned initiatives: • Development of laser-plasma radiation sources for medical physics; • Influence of light fields on inter- and intracellular processes.

The participation in additional coordinate Programs of the Faculty is desired.

Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, special competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
