The Master of Arts Program in International Migration and Refugees (MIMR), housed in the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure line (FTNTL) position as either an Assistant/Associate Professor of the Practice of International Migration and Refugees. The position is for a three-year, renewable term. MIMR is a recently-developed Master’s Program (the first cohort began in September 2024) at Georgetown University. This new Assistant or Associate Professor of the Practice will be expected to teach courses and to support the program’s development including recruitment, admissions, and advising. The new faculty member will teach classes on international migration and refugees, including at least one of the five core classes of the MIMR program (Global Trends, Research Methods, Environmental Migration and Displacement, Global Migration and Refugee Policy, or the Capstone Class), and one or more of the required classes of the MIMR concentrations. The instructional load will also include elective courses. (See the website for a description of the Master’s program and course requirements.) In addition to teaching responsibilities, the incumbent will manage the MIMR Summer Practicum. The successful candidate will have experience working in the field of migration and refugee studies in universities, government, international organization, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, or the private sector. The candidate must also have some teaching and mentorship experience, or evidence of their willingness to teach graduate courses in migration and refugees. A Ph.D. in a relevant field – such as public policy, political science, anthropology, sociology, public health, economics, environmental sciences, law, social work, demography, regional studies – is required. Demonstrated fluency in a second language is preferred. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The successful candidate is also expected to engage and contribute to the academic community at Georgetown University. The appointment will begin in the Fall of 2026. The projected salary range for this position is $90k-$110k for an Assistant Professor of the Practice and $110k-$130k for an Associate Professor of the Practice.
