Position Description

Two postdoc positions are available for a project that focuses on the discovery of emergent properties in novel quantum materials that result from the interplay of magnetism, dimensionality, and topology. Neutron scattering will be used as a primary tool, complemented by lab-based measurements and exploratory synthesis of new compounds.

The project is supervised by Professor Meigan Aronson, and will be carried out in the collaborative and interdisciplinary Stewart Blusson Quantum Materials Institute within the Department of Physics and Astronomy. For more information visit the Aronson group website (https://aronson.phas.ubc.ca).

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D in physics, materials science, or chemistry, with a strong background in condensed matter physics. Experience with neutron scattering techniques, low temperature measurement of magnetic, thermal, and electrical transport measurements, and materials synthesis techniques are highly preferred. The ability to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team and strong communication skills are required for these positions.

These positions are available immediately. Applications, including a CV, a list of publications, and the names of three references should be uploaded to Academic Jobs Online. Review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000
