Position Description

The Particle Theory Group in the Department of Physics at Tokyo Metropolitan University invites applications for a Specially Appointed Researcher (postdoctoral) or Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (non-tenured) working with Wen Yin.

Our group leads the project “Exploring the Nature of Dark Matter through Particle-Theoretical Astronomy”, funded by the Selective Research Fund for Young Researchers at Tokyo Metropolitan University. The goal of the project is to elucidate the nature of dark matter and unknown physical laws through close collaboration between particle theory and astronomy.

Deadline: Applications submitted before December 10, 2025 will receive full consideration.

Project topics include:

• Theoretical studies of dark matter history and evolution, spatial distributions, construction of new particle models, and detection methods

• Searches for signals of dark matter or new physics through analyses of existing astronomical data

• Proposals and implementation of astronomical observation techniques for dark matter detection

Term and extension: The appointment may be extended up to March 31, 2028, depending on performance and the availability of funds.

Salary and benefits: Salary will be determined in accordance with university regulations and the applicant’s experience and achievements (expected range: JPY 300,000–370,000 per month). Employees are also eligible for social and employment insurance and a commuting allowance.

Additional duties for Specially Appointed Assistant Professor: If appointed as a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, the successful candidate is expected to engage actively in research supervision and student education. It is possible to take charge of undergraduate courses at Tokyo Metropolitan University, upon request. If such teaching is assigned, additional remuneration will be provided.
