Position Description
A salaried, full-time research position with excellent benefits is available in the Baugh lab in the Department of Biology at Duke University. The Baugh lab uses the roundworm C. elegans to study nutritional control of development and organismal physiology. The Associate in Research will contribute to a project focused on characterizing the genetic basis of natural variation in starvation resistance using classical genetics, genome editing, and phenotypic analysis. Research experience is necessary. Skills related to genetic analysis, molecular biology, imaging, and computational analysis are desirable, and experience with nematodes is ideal. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to media and reagent preparation, molecular biology, worm and bacterial culture, genetic crosses and genotyping, phenotypic analysis, microscopy, microinjections, and data analysis. This position is part of a research team, and training and mentoring will be provided.
