Position Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical or mathematical physics in the group of Denis Bernard at the Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris (Laboratoire de Physique de l'Ecole Normale Superieure), to start in September/October 2026 (precise start date flexible).

The appointment is for 2+1 years and comes with travel support. It is funded by the Simons Collaboration on « Probabilistic Paths to Quantum Field Theory », https://probabilistic-qft.org/, which addresses broad theoretical questions interfacing quantum field theory and probability theory, but also noisy quantum dynamics.

We welcome applications of candidates from a wide range of backgrounds from theoretical physics to pure mathematics, with (most likely) a background in (conformal) random geometry or stochastic partial differential equations or free probability or quantum dynamics.

The successful applicant will benefit from the Simons Collaboration activities and will join an extremely lively theoretical physics community in the Ecole Normale Superieure and in the Paris area.

FORMALITIES:

Required application documents:

- Cover letter - Detailed CV with publication list - Research statement (max 4 pages) - Three reference letters

Candidates should submit these materials via the AcademicJobsOnline website only.
