Position Description
The Physics Department at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the quantum information and quantum gravity group, led by Aidan Chatwin-Davies. The position will be for a period of 1 year, beginning in September 2026 or earlier. Pending availability of funds, the position may be extended for up to an additional two years. Candidates with experience and research interests in interdisciplinary aspects of the following (non-exhaustive) list of topics are encouraged to apply: quantum error correction, tensor networks, (lattice) gauge theory, cosmology, holography. Candidates should hold (or expect to hold at the start of employment) a PhD in physics, or a closely related discipline. Please submit a CV, research statement (max. 3 pages), and arrange for 3 reference letters to be uploaded to this website. Applications received by 5 pm EST on December 15th will be given full consideration. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. About the Department: The Physics Department at the University of Rhode Island (URI) is home to faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students who mainly work in quantum information science, gravitational physics, and biophysics. The Physics Department is located in the University’s main campus in the historic village of Kingston, RI near major beaches in a beautiful coastal community. URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and an easy train ride or drive from Boston and New York City. Exploring the surrounding region, both for academic collaborations and for leisure, is strongly supported.Application Materials Required:
