Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a Simons Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the general areas of gravitational theory and black hole astrophysics. This position is intended to expand Alex Lupsasca’s research group (https://lupsasca.com/), which currently includes one postdoc and two graduate students. The anticipated start date is September 1 2026, though an earlier date may be negotiated if appropriate. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment. This fellowship will include funding for travel across the nodes of the recently established Simons Collaboration on Black Holes and Strong Gravity: an international, multidisciplinary effort to explore the non-linear and dynamical nature of strong gravity and black holes, both within Einstein’s theory of general relativity and beyond. (Candidates interested in this collaboration may also wish to apply to this related position: https://inspirehep.net/jobs/3072858.)
