Position Description

The string group in the department of physics at Yonsei University invites applications for one or more postdoctoral associate positions to start in September 2026.

Yonsei University is a leading research university in South Korea, located at a vibrant and strategic district in the city of Seoul, exhibiting youthful energy, cultural significance and excellent transportation links to the entire city and beyond.

The research of the group encompasses string theory and quantum field theory, as well as the underlying mathematical structures thereof. The candidates who are interested in string phenomenology, string compactifications and quantum gravity constraints, as well as applications of algebro-geometric and/or machine learning techniques to the aforementioned fields of research, are particularly encouraged to apply.

While the successful candidates are expected to conduct research within Prof. Seung-Joo Lee's group, they are also encouraged to interact with other members of the department working on theoretical high energy physics, including Prof. Seungjoon Hyun and Prof. Seong Chan Park, and to pursue their own independent projects.

The appointment is initially for two years, beginning September 1, 2026, but an extension by one extra year may be considered subject to research performance and funding availability.
