Position Description

# Postdoc positions IGFAE HotQCD 2026

The IGFAE HotQCD team at the University of Santiago de Compostela invites expressions of interest for one postdoctoral position in the phenomenology of jets and parton distributions in the initial stages of nucleus–nucleus, proton–nucleus, and proton–proton collisions at the LHC. The group aims to deepen our understanding of the dynamical mechanisms that rapidly drive these systems toward an equilibrated QCD medium.

The HotQCD team is supported by several national and European grants, including the ERC Advanced Grant YoctoLHC. In addition, the group is expanding its activity in quantum simulation, with particular interest in analog quantum computing, and anticipates using new local laboratory facilities that will become available in 2026.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates with expertise in:
  • QCD jets and parton showers
  • Jet quenching
  • Small-x physics and the CGC
  • Monte Carlo simulations
  • Quantum simulations in high-energy and nuclear physics
The local team at IGFAE includes Néstor Armesto, Elena G. Ferreiro, Carlos A. Salgado, Bin Wu, Lin Chen, Óscar García Montero, Pablo Guerrero, Meijian Li, and Wenyang Qian, along with several PhD students. The successful candidate will have opportunities for research exchanges with other institutions and may participate in the supervision of PhD students.

Application deadline: December 20, 2025
Expected start date: Fall 2026 (earlier starting dates are possible)

A curriculum vitae, including a list of publications, a statement of research interest and three reference letters are requested. Applications should be made through Academic Jobs Online
