Position Description

The University of Melbourne invites applications for a postdoctoral position in beyond the Standard Model quark and lepton flavour models and phenomenology.

Job description:

This position is supported by the Australian Research Council project entitled “Exploring the Mystery of Quark and Lepton Flavours” under Chief Investigators Prof. Raymond Volkas and Dr Peter Cox. It will also involve occasional collaboration with Partner Investigator Dr Martin Hirsch of IFIC and the University of Valencia in Spain. The focus of the project is models of quark and lepton flavour beyond the Standard Model, especially radiative mass generation.

The position will be based within the School of Physics at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus. The senior academics in the Theoretical Particle Physics group are Prof. Nicole Bell, Dr Peter Cox, Prof. Matthew Dolan, and Prof. Raymond Volkas. The group includes other postdoctoral fellows working on beyond-Standard-Model projects in dark matter, neutrino physics, flavour physics, particle phenomenology, early-universe cosmology, and other related areas. The group also contains a significant number of PhD and Masters students working on these topics.

For more information on the group please visit: https://particletheory.science.unimelb.edu.au/

The position is offered for three years.

The anticipated starting date is September 2026, or another date by negotiation. The salary will be at University of Melbourne salary level A6 (which is currently $110,319 Australian dollars). A PhD by the time the position starts is required.
