Position Description
The Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to be associated with the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.
The UChicago ATLAS group carries out a diverse physics program, plays a central role in several upgrades to the experiment, and is actively involved in Run 3 operations. The successful candidate will be expected to lead innovative searches for beyond the Standard Model physics and to make significant contributions to silicon pixel detector development. Opportunities also exist to participate in R&D for a future Muon Collider. The postdoc will work closely with graduate and undergraduate students and will be primarily based at CERN. This position can begin as early as Spring 2026.
Applicants should have a PhD in experimental particle physics, a strong record of accomplishments in physics analysis, and be highly motivated to work on cutting edge instrumentation.
The appointment will be at the internal University rank of Postdoctoral Scholar, which is open to individuals who are less than seven years beyond attainment of the Ph.D. degree. Priority will be given to those candidates who received their Ph.D. in 2022 or later. There are no teaching responsibilities associated with this position.
