Position Description

The Center for Theoretical Physics (Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France) invites applications for a postdoctoral position with a focus on the theory of strongly-correlated electronic systems, funded by a joint French-German grant between Blaise Goutéraux (CPHT, Ecole Polytechnique), Gaël Grissonnanche (Irradiated Solids Lab, Ecole Polytechnique) and Joerg Schmalian (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). Besides the PIs, the collaboration is expected to include several PhD students, postdocs and a senior staff scientist.

We are looking for outstanding candidates with a strong background in many-body quantum field theory, quantum transport, electron hydrodynamics, etc. and interested in applications to strongly-correlated electronic materials.

The appointment will initially be for two years, with an extension for a third year contingent on satisfactory performance. We offer a competitive salary, social benefits and a travel allowance. Secondments periods at KIT will be possible.

Other members of CPHT with interest in strongly-correlated electronic systems include Silke Biermann, Maria Chatzieleftheriou, Olesia Dmytruk, Michel Ferrero, Karyn Le Hur, Leonid Poyurovskiy, Evgeny Stepanov and Alaska Subedi. Further information about CPHT may be found here: https://www.cpht.polytechnique.fr/. The Paris area is home to a vibrant Condensed Matter community.

The expected start date is Sep 1, 2026. The position will be open until filled, with primary consideration given to applications received before Jan 31st. To apply, please send a CV, cover letter, publication list, research statement (3-4 pages max without references) and 3 letters of recommendation through Academic Jobs Online. Questions regarding this position should be addressed to Blaise Goutéraux (see email below). Applications received by email will not be considered.

Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research statement
  • Publication list
  • Three reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers on this site help popup)
And anything else requested in the position description.
