Vanderbilt University’s Department of Political Science seeks two Postdoctoral Scholars to conduct research on topics related to National Security, broadly defined, during the 2026-2027 academic year. We are particularly interested in scholars whose work complements the research of current faculty and the efforts of the Vanderbilt Institute for National Security. Applications are welcome from scholars who have received or will receive their doctoral degree by August 1, 2026, for year-long appointments beginning August 16, 2026. Postdoctoral scholars will be required to teach one course on international relations during the 2026-2027 academic year. In addition to pursuing their own individual research, Postdoctoral Scholars are expected to participate in department events as well as events hosted by the Vanderbilt Institute for National Security. Candidates should submit a vita and cover letter describing your ongoing research, what you hope to accomplish during the postdoc, and why Vanderbilt in particular would be a useful setting to pursue that research.
