Position Description

The Department of Physics at Columbia University invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate Research Scientist. This position will begin on May 1, 2026. The position requires a PhD degree in Physics or a related field and 3+ years experience. Potential research topics include the studies of non-linear electron hydrodynamics in graphene.

Suitable candidates will conduct research in the Condensed Matter Group in the Department of Physics; manage a variety of collaborations with academic labs and national labs and contract research organizations; and will mentor undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will participate in the preparation and submission of grants and related fund-raising activities, and preparation of publications and patents.

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Physics or a related field, 3+ years research experience and postdoctoral experience in the areas of condensed matter physics, non-linear electron hydrodynamics in graphene, and state-of-the-art nanolithography and 2D materials techniques.
