Position Description

The Department of Sociology at Duke University invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate with expertise in economic sociology, immmigration, organizations, network analysis, or inequality broadly defined.

In addition to pursuing their own research agenda, we seek applicants with experience in survey design and computational methods, and working with complex large-scale data. Successful candidates will have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline before beginning the appointment. The one-year appointment will begin July 1, 2026. In addition to a competitive annual salary and the opportunity for significant collaboration, the Postdoctoral Associate will also have access to office space, computer equipment, and travel/research funds.

Qualifications: ● Ph.D. in a social scientific field or related (e.g., sociology, public policy, political science, demography, economics, and epidemiology) or related quantitative social science for a Postdoctoral Associate ● Experience with survey design and working with complex large-scale data ● Demonstrated proficiency with statistical programs such as R, SAS, and/or STATA ● Ability to work independently and as part of a research team ● Commitment to academic diversity, equity, and inclusion
