Position Description

The Duke University Pierre R. Lamond Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in the Pratt School of Engineering is seeking applicants for the inaugural Pierre R. Lamond Presidential Distinguished Professor in the area of semiconductors, nanoelectronics, or computer engineering. This recruitment is part of the historic $57M gift from the Lamond family announced in January 2026 (see here: https://pratt.duke.edu/news/lamond-ece/) and represents a career-defining opportunity for an exceptional researcher in the semiconductor space to be part of a transformative era in the Pierre R. Lamond Department of ECE. Information on the cutting edge, multidisciplinary research and teaching in the department can be found at https://ece.duke.edu. The recent naming of the department after Lamond, a semiconductor pioneer, is representative of the intensifying emphasis of semiconductor-related research at Duke as an area of strategic strength and importance for years to come. We seek a candidate for this position who can lead major collaborative research efforts, facilitate extensive engagement with industry, and excel in training and mentoring students.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
