The Department of Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics and Mathematical Physics group. The position is funded through the Slovenian Research And Innovation Agency's grant, led by Pavel Kos. The broad area of the position is non-equilibrium many-body dynamics with connections to quantum information, with emphasis on dynamics given by quantum circuits, especially those with special properties that enable analytical insights. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantum many-body systems, circuit dynamics, quantum information for many-body systems, nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, or tensor-network simulations of dynamics. The Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics and Mathematical Physics group offers a vibrant and collaborative research environment. Current members include Tomaž Prosen, Marko Žnidarič, Sašo Grozdanov, Lenart Zadnik, and Enej Ilievski. The group's research spans chaotic, integrable, kinetically constrained quantum many-body systems, transport phenomena and their universality, dynamics of quantum circuits and classical cellular automata, holographic duality, and hydrodynamics. The appointment is expected to commence in 2026, with the exact start date open to negotiation depending on the candidate's availability. The position is offered for two and a half years.
