Position Description

The Program in Linguistics at Duke University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Linguistics for the Academic Year 2026-2027 starting July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, with the possibility of renewal for another year. We seek a candidate with expertise in general linguistics and with clear engagement with other fields, particularly computational linguistics and its subfields and /or language development. The teaching load is four undergraduate courses (2 courses each semester). 

Interested candidates should submit the following: 
• Cover letter (with contact information) 
• Curriculum vitae 
• Two-page research statement 
• Syllabi of two or three courses that the candidate taught previously 
• Two-page teaching statement that describes the applicant’s teaching approach and previous teaching experiences 
• Copies of teaching evaluations 
• Names and contact information of three referees 

Applicants for this position must hold a Ph.D. degree in Linguistics or a closely related field. All application materials should be uploaded to the Academic Jobs Online portal.
