The Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences (CSS), University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM) invites applicants for the position of Instructor (I-2). This is a non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment to begin August 1, 2026, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. We are seeking a candidate committed to undergraduate education and interest in advancing instructional pedagogy in the psychological sciences in both online and in person formats.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach assigned undergraduate courses of Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Statistical Techniques in Psychology, and additional courses serving departmental needs.
2. Participate in department, college, university, and community service.
3. Participate in mentoring graduate students on pedagogical knowledge and course development.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Psychology or closely related discipline from a college or university of recognized standing;
2. Evidence in ability to teach Psychology effectively at a university level;
3. Demonstrated ability to direct graduate teaching and learning assistants;
4. Advanced pedagogical knowledge for both online and in-person instruction;
5. Strong communication and organizational skills;
6. Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
Desirable Qualifications include:
1. Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related discipline from a college or university of recognized standing;
2. Proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upper-division Psychology courses at the university level;
3. Ability to teach courses related to statistics and behavioral neuroscience at the undergraduate level;
4. Experience successfully teaching large lecture courses with lab sections;
5. Experience teaching student populations with varying backgrounds.
