Position Description

The Signal Inference, Information and Learning (SIIL) Group is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to perform research in the area of statistical signal and array processing with application to quantum theory and information science. Other application areas of interest include robust parameter estimation and performance bounds under model misspecification, integrated sensing and communications, orthogonal time frequency space modulation, radar/sonar signal processing, and machine and deep learning.

WORK PERFORMING: Individual will perform research generally in the area of statistical signal and array processing. Topics of specific interest include quantum signal processing, robust parameter estimation and performance bounds under model misspecification, adaptive radar target detection / estimation / SAR imaging / STAP, cognitive radar / sonar, communications over dynamic channels, orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation, shared-spectrum / RF convergence, machine and deep learning (e.g. model-aided, convergence analyses, universal), data-driven detection and estimation, robust adaptive filtering / beamforming for radar/sonar under modeling uncertainties.

In addition to research responsibilities, the postdoctoral researcher will actively engage in group meetings, departmental seminars, and will have opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborate with colleagues across the Duke research community.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: PhD in electrical engineering, physics, quantum theory/science, expertise in detection and estimation theory.

PREFERRED: Statistical signal processing with knowledge of quantum theory / information science.

SKILLS: Proficiency in English language including writing and oral communication.
