Position Description

A salaried, full-time Associate in Research position with excellent benefits is available in the Onishi lab in the Department of Biology at Duke University. The Onishi lab uses the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardttii to study cell division and its coordination with chloroplast division. The Associate in Research will contribute to a project focused on identifying novel components involved in chloroplast division through proteomics and genetics. Skills related to genetic analysis, molecular biology, imaging, and computational analysis are required, and experience with microalgae and/or yeasts is ideal. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) media and reagent preparation, molecular biology, algal and bacterial culture, genetic crosses and genotyping, phenotypic analysis, microscopy, protein sample preparation, and data analysis. This position is part of a research team, and training and mentoring will be provided. The AIR will also mentor 1-2 undergraduates conducting independent research. This is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated recent college graduates interested in a career in research. This position requires a BS/BA degree.
