Position Description

The Columbia University Department of Physics invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate in Discipline or Lecturer in Discipline, to begin July 1, 2026. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, one-year position, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years contingent upon successful performance and curricular need. For an Associate in Discipline, an MA degree is required and for a Lecturer in Discipline, a PhD is required. The appointment requires teaching and grading multiple sections of introductory physics laboratory courses. There will be opportunities to contribute to the culture and evolution of the undergraduate program in physics. Application materials received by May 15, 2026 will receive full consideration. For an Associate in Discipline, an MA degree is required and for a Lecturer in Discipline, a PhD is required at the time of the appointment. Candidates should also have a strong background in both teaching and technical / laboratory work, with experience leading laboratory courses. Application Instructions
