Position Description
We are scouting strongly motivated scholars to join the NEUQUAM team led by Dr. J. Marino at SUNY Buffalo in the USA. Our research team investigates quantum phenomena that can endure at long times and over large distances in many-body systems — whether isolated or subject to driven–dissipative conditions. We focus on identifying those emergent phases of matter that demand a truly quantum description, beyond any classical surrogate, or phenomenological description. Applications are cross-disciplinary and they encompass strongly correlated light-matter platforms, the modeling of quantum materials under far-from-equilibrium conditions, and many body quantum information science that have prospects for advantage over classical computation. Techniques employed span over non-equilibrium field theory, semi-classical methods in quantum many body dynamics, tensor networks and GPU-accelerated quantum evolution. Our work is concept- rather than method-centric. Candidates with backgrounds or skillsets different than those traditionally developed in our team are welcome to apply. Our research work is in synergy with several international teams located in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain) and in the US. In particular, we are engaged in a scientific exchange with the ICTP-SAIFR in São Paulo (Brazil), through the organization of schools and workshops, as well as scientific collaborations. For an overview of our activities, please visit: https://sites.google.com/view/nequantumuniv and https://arxiv.org/search/?query=jamir+marino&source=header&searchtype=all Our team is located in the city of Buffalo, in Western New York — a region celebrated for its historical architecture, fine cuisine, and breathtaking natural landmarks, including Niagara Falls and the Great Lakes. While Buffalo is known for its snowy winters, the pleasant weather in summer and fall months transform the area into a scenic beauty with colorful landscapes. Interested scholars should send the following material: 1) curriculum vitae, including list of publications; 2) names and e-mail contacts of two senior scientists (please, do not ask to send recommendation letters at this time); to the email address neuquam@gmail.com preferably by June 30th, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be considered and interviewed dynamically before submission deadline. Review may continue after submission deadline until suitable candidates receive and accept an offer. Starting date is very flexible and it can be tailored to applicants’ needs. We are not accepting applications for this job through AcademicJobsOnline.Org right now. Please email neuquam@gmail.com.
