Position Description

A postdoctoral position is available at JILA, at the University of Colorado, to work on JILA’s electron electric dipole moment (eEDM) experiment. The project, jointly advised by Jun Ye and Eric Cornell, is responsible for the current most stringent limit on eEDM. Our goal is to break the Standard Model of particle physics or else set important new constraints trying. We are looking for committed and motivated candidates. JILA is a leading center for AMO physics located in Boulder, Colorado at the edge of the Rocky Mountains. The experiment is a highly technical effort involving multiple cw and pulsed lasers, ion-beam optics, ion traps, rotational and electronic molecular spectroscopy, ultra-high vacuum, magnetic measurement and shielding, cryogenic design, numerical modeling, extensive computer-driven experimental control and data-acquisition, and analysis of statistical and systematic errors. The successful candidate will know about a few of these things and want to learn about the rest. The incoming postdoc will work with a lively, energetic group of physicists.
