Job Description:  Executive in Residence, Duke Initiative for Science & Society
The Duke Initiative for Science & Society is recruiting for an Executive in Residence to instruct, mentor, and oversee research projects of graduate and undergraduate students interested in the ethics and policy of emerging technologies.  This is full time non-regular rank faculty position.  
This position reports directly to the Director of the Duke Initiative for Science & Society.  
The position holder will contribute to the MA in Applied Ethics & Policy’s technology track and to the undergraduate Digital Intelligence Certificate by helping build innovative and cutting-edge curriculum, overseeing student research projects, and cultivating career networking opportunities for students.  
The position holder will provide mentorship to the students in the technology concentration of the MA and Certificate programs and help recruit new talented students to the programs.
The holder of this position will teach four of the following courses:
Bioethics 704 “Science Law and Policy,” (Fall),  
“Introduction to Cybersecurity”  (Spring)
“Politics and Regulation of AI”
“Innovation, Politics, and Society”  (Spring) 
A new course with the approval of the S&S Director
Bass Connections “CHIPS Challenge: Technology, Policy and the Global Supply Chain,” (Co-instructor) a project in the new Deep Tech suite of classes examines the semiconductor ecosystem from raw materials and fabrication to policy, geopolitics, and economic strategy. (Fall 2026-Spring 2027)

The position holder will oversee student research projects in the Trustworthy Technology Lab, helping students develop their work to a level of publishable quality.  This work will commence in Fall 2026 and continue through Spring 2027. 
The position holder will contribute to the vision, values, and oversight of Science & Society overall by participating in the S&S Faculty Governance Committee.
