Position Description
The Department of Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University is seeking applications for a Research Scientist with the Emery Thompson lab at Duke University to begin as early as July 1, 2026. This position will support advanced research data analysis for sponsored research projects on wild ape life histories, social behavior, and aging. The successful candidate will work with long-term research databases to construct complex queries of social and demographic data and conduct statistical analyses, including linear, Bayesian, and survival models. The research scientists will be expected to lead research publications and collaborate with the PIs and other lab members to develop empirical data and research aims. This is a full-time research position. Minimum Qualifications: (1) a PhD in Anthropology, Biology, or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant postdoctoral experience; (2) research experience demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications in mammalian social behavior and/or demography.
