Position Description
The Particle Physics Group at Southern University of Science and Technology invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the fields of neutrino physics, dark matter and astrophysics. Successful candidates can choose to work on one of the three experiments: JUNO, SNO+, TRIDENT. As the world-largest liquid scintillator detector, JUNO will pin down the neutrino mass ordering, measure neutrino oscillation parameters with unprecedented precision, measure solar and atmospheric neutrinos in the coming years. SNO+ will search for neutrinoless double beta decay with an ultra-radiopure liquid scintillator detector in the world's deepest underground laboratory, testing the potential Majorana nature of neutrinos. TRIDENT aims to observe high energy astrophysical neutrinos with a deep sea neutrino telescope in Western Pacific Ocean. There will be many exciting opportunities in our group for impactful research at the frontiers of particle physics and astrophysics. The initial appointment is for 2+1 years, and further renewal of the positions is possible based on mutual agreement. The start date is November 2026, though a flexible start date between November 2026 and March 2027 is also acceptable. The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is ranked among the top 30 global institutions by the Nature Index. The university has a beautiful campus and supportive scientific environment. SUSTech offers a highly competitive salary (comparable to same-level positions in the USA), with additional benefits on social insurance, housing support, research funding and travel subsidy. Shenzhen is a modern international city known for its booming high-tech industries, high quality of living, beautiful environment, and delicious food. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field by the start date. Candidates with experience in detector hardware, electronics, and simulation are welcome to apply. Theorists and phenomenologists (with phenomenology ideas related to JUNO, SNO+, and TRIDENT) are also encouraged to apply for the position. Application instructions: To ensure full consideration, please submit the following materials via AcademicJobsOnline (AJO) by October 31, 2026. 1. Curriculum vitae 2. Research statement 3.
