FACULTY POSITIONS
Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica

The Institute of Physics (IOP) at Academia Sinica,
Taiwan’s premier research institution, invites applications for tenure-track
faculty positions at all ranks, with an expected start date of September 1,
2027. Proficiency in Chinese is not required.

The Institute currently maintains internationally
recognized research programs in:
- Condensed Matter Physics
- Medium and High-Energy Physics
- Soft Matter and Biological Physics
We are especially interested in candidates working
in the areas of:
- Active Soft Matter
- Advanced Optical
Spectroscopy
- Astroparticle Physics
- Bioimaging
- Collider Physics
- Cosmology
- Gravitational Physics
- Mechanobiology
- Molecular and Cellular Biophysics
- Nuclear Physics
- Quantum Materials and
Quantum Devices
Outstanding candidates in other areas of physics
will also be considered.
IOP is dedicated to excellence in fundamental
research. Faculty members enjoy the freedom to pursue independent research in a
highly collegial and collaborative environment. The Institute offers
state-of-the-art facilities for advanced computation, quantum material
synthesis and characterization, and optical microscopy. Researchers also benefit
from access to Academia Sinica’s extensive shared core facilities, which
provide world-class capabilities in advanced imaging, genomics, proteomics,
nanotechnology, and high-performance computing. Together, these resources

Faculty members are eligible to apply for both
internal funding from Academia Sinica and external funding from agencies such
as the National
Science and Technology Council (NSTC). They may supervise Ph.D. students through the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) and through partner universities. Teaching is not
required but is encouraged as part of the Institute’s commitment to graduate
education.
Academia Sinica provides a family-friendly and
supportive work environment. Newly recruited faculty members are eligible for
faculty housing. On-campus childcare and kindergarten facilities are available,
and bilingual (English–Chinese) education programs are offered at nearby
schools.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics or a closely
related field and should preferably have postdoctoral research experience.
Successful candidates are expected to establish and lead internationally
competitive, independent research programs that contribute to the Institute’s
global reputation for excellence.
