Position Description
The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University invites applications for a tenured Associate or tenure-track Assistant Professor of Policy Communication. We seek a social scientist with a robust program of research in policy communication and whose teaching interests include policy communication. By policy communication, we mean one or both of the following: (a) communication about public policy (e.g., in public discourse, organizations, media, advocacy, policymaking forums, or other contexts; including but not limited to communication about evidence about public policy design and impact) and/or (b) communication policy (e.g., the study of the design, process, and impact of public policy that regulates or guides digital, mediated, or institutional communication and information). The candidate will be expected to teach courses in policy communication at the undergraduate and master’s levels in support of our degree programs in public policy and public administration. We welcome applicants with a PhD. and research expertise in communication, social psychology, information science, or a related social science discipline.
The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy was established in 2021 to tackle the most pressing policy challenges we face in the U.S. and globally. To advance this goal, we are hiring world-class research scholars across many disciplines who are oriented toward policy engagement and impact.

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000. Cornell University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
