We are seeking two individuals with strong backgrounds in experimental biophysics relevant to medicine and established international reputations in the field.

Applicants should focus their research on basic research. A willingness to collaborate with research groups in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine is expected. Excellent publications in internationally renowned journals are required.

Over the past five years, successful acquisition of competitive external funding of €300,000 for the W2 professorship and €750,000 for the W3 professorship, respectively, is required.

Participation in teaching within the medical physics and physics degree programs is also expected. Both professorships require teaching experience in experimental physics as well as in experimental biophysics or in experimental medical physics.

The W3 professorship requires teaching experience in experimental biophysics and in experimental physics.

Participation in at least one of the collaborative research programs planned in the Department of Physics is expected. By conducting research on the following topics, the candidate would strengthen the initiatives planned in these areas. • Mechanobiology and intracellular forces • The influence of light fields on inter- and intracellular processes • Phase transitions in living systems • Transport processes through biological membranes • Cell tissue growth

Participation in other coordinated research programs of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is desirable.
