Position Description
The Institut de Physique Théorique (IPhT), CEA Saclay, invites applications for several postdoctoral research positions.The positions are supported by the ANR projects SEFT (Brando Bellazzini) and QFTtoGWs (Stefano De Angelis), and by the ERC project UREikA (Carlo Heissenberg).
Successful candidates will pursue independent and collaborative research with Brando Bellazzini, Stefano De Angelis, and Carlo Heissenberg, and will actively participate in the research activities of the lab.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates with a strong background in quantum field theory and/or precision computations. Relevant research directions include:
- scattering amplitudes,
- gravitational-wave observables from QFT techniques and waveform modelling,
- their high-energy limit, eikonal exponentiation, soft/collinear and self-force resummations,
- IR divergences, EFT constraints, generalised observables including energy-energy correlators,
- soft theorems, asymptotic symmetries, and celestial/Carroll holography.
Other areas of research may be considered for exceptionally strong candidates.
Other members of the IPhT with related interests in amplitudes, cosmology, and formal QFT include Raffaele D'Agnolo, Valerio De Luca, Mariana Grana, Hyungjin Kim, Gregory Korchemsky, David Kosower, Dalimil Mazac, Pierre Vanhove, and Filippo Vernizzi. IPhT also maintains ties with nearby groups in the Paris area, which offer many further opportunities for interaction.
The positions will be based at IPhT, CEA Saclay, near Paris. Appointments are expected to begin in September/October 2027, the exact starting date may be negotiable. Two of the positions are for three years, and one is for two years. A fourth two-year position may also be offered. Two-year position(s) may be extended later depending on funding.
